The Micrographic Programme at the University of Malaya Library

Rancangan mikrofilem/mikrofis yang dibicarakan dalam makalah ini menjejaki perkembangan sejarah mikrografik di Perpustakaan Universiti Malaya, dan berbagai jenis bahan yang telah difilem/difis sebagai sebahagian daripada usaha pemeliharaan dan pembekalan salinan. Peralatan lama ialah sebab utama mengapa kegiatan mikrografik kurang cergas dalam tempoh beberapa tahun kebelakangan. Oi dalam keadaan teknologi yang pesat berkembang, peralatan yang sesuai pada harga yang mampu dibayar hendaklah diperolehi demi pre stasi baik.

Computer technology and its associated technology today have a strong impact on information technology_. Libraries are responding posItively to computer technology as a means to provide better services to their clientele. The microcomputer is becoming a versatile tool in a library environment providing varied opportunites and advantages to a library. This article describes the experiences of Library, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya, with the microcomputer and some of the benefits derived from it. The human element in library automation is a decisive factor in ensuring tnst man-machine interaction produces desired result.
